Around 10 am I ran into some of my mom's work colleagues who needed some ID help with a goose they had shot earlier today near Chestertown.? They kept refering?to it as a specklebelly, which I had never heard of, and I started to worry.? They lead me to a freezer and opened it, revealing the dead bird laying next to some Mallards.? As soon as I saw it I knew what it was and, in denial, lifted it head to show that white patch before its orange beak.? Then it set in that this was a (Greenland) Greater White-fronted Goose.
After looking at it for?a couple of?minutes I asked him what was to happen to it.? He explained that it was going to be stuffed and hung on the office wall.? I asked if he would kindly donate it to a museum to add a little positive outcome to this tragedy.? He refused, I guess because he was so proud to be the 4th person ever to shoot a GWFG in Kent county.? Not knowing how to reacted, I said a few angry words and left.? Thought about going back to steal it, but there's only so much a 15 year old can do :(

So I guess this means GWF Geese are moving through the area, be on the lookout, and hopefully someone will be lucky enough to see one........alive.
