Today, Tuesday the 25th, a Sandhill Crane was seen at the Cromwell Valley Park HawkWatch. This bird was north-west of the watch site and was heading in a north-west direction. Mark Scarf spotted the bird at 1:23 pm and watched it for two minutes through his spotting scope before it went out of view. Mark was in Saskatchewan recently and saw many thousands of these birds, so he knew immediately what he was seeing once he got it in his scope. I'm not quite sure how rare these birds are here in Md., maybe someone more knowledgeable could let us know. We had a pretty good hawk flight also....
