I spent a few hours at Schoohouse Pond each of the last two days (11/27 and 11/28) and was unable to relocate either the Thayer's Gull or Glaucous Gull. There were decent numbers of gulls both days, but not as many as on the days when there is ice on the pond. Highlights from today were a 1st winter Lesser Black-backed Gull and an adult Great Black-backed Gull. Totals from the two days included:
11/27: 561 Laughing Gulls, 198 Ring-billed Gulls, and 55 Herring Gulls
11/28: 402 Laughing Gulls, 191 Ring-billed Gulls, 161 Herring Gulls, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
As with most other days, there was a constant turnover of gulls, with gulls coming and going both from the direction of the landfill and Jug Bay.
