Hi everyone,
I also saw the Snowy Owl at Assateague Island today. After hiking for just
over 2 hours I had given up and was starting to hike back when some really
nice fishermen pulled over in their vehicle and offered to drive me to where
the owl was. It turns out I had given up maybe a half mile short of the owl's
location, which was around the 25km mark and somewhere between a half mile to
a mile south of the "Bullpen" area. The fishermen said they had seen the
owl several times and that it was consistently moving south by at least 1km per
day. Did I mention the fishermen were really nice? After getting to the
owl they waited for me to take some photos and then drove me back to the
parking lot. A ride VERY GRATEFULLY received!! It was a nice day for the hike but
... I was glad to get a ride back nevertheless. I've posted one photo, you
can see it at:
