Belatedly, a quick note to say that aside from the things mentioned by Paul Pisano I checked the DC Constitution Gardens pools last Friday where there were 2 Coots and 9 Ring-necked Ducks, and on Saturday I stopped at The Tidal Basin between 6.40 and 7.10 am where there was a big flock, 2000+, of large gulls.  They look like they had overnighted there and quickly dispersed before I could get a good look but there was 1 Laughing Gull and 3 Lesser Black-backs amongst the 800 or so birds I got to properly check.  Interestingly they were nearly all adult Herring Gulls.  Very few immatures - all the LBBGs were adults - and very few Ring-bills.  I gather from Paul P that there were many fewer gulls there this morning, unfortunately.
