Hi Everyone,

While I'm posting, I thought I'd cross-post this impressive report from the Pennsylvania list regarding Pine Siskin numbers this year:

"...as many of you know, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, (Berks and Schuylkill
counties) has been counting other migrants than hawks since 1934 and has been particularly diligent in this regard since mid 1980s. During autumn 2008, between October 10 and November 20th, we counted 11,000 Pine Siskins in flyby flocks past North Lookout with 1435 counted on 11/11. We are still counting siskins daily but numbers have dwindled.

For perspective, between 1991 and 2007 the annual pine siskin totals
have ranged from less than 100 to 1211 total.

I thought this phenomenal influx of siskins was worth noting. We were
seeing crossbills last week as well.
