My wife and I just got back from an unsuccessful search for the
Greater White-fronted Goose in North Bethesda. We were at the pond
for about 10 minutes, starting at around 9 a.m., Thursday 12/4. Only
waterfowl in sight: 5 tame Mallards. Per Leslie Starr's post, the
geese that were there at first light this morning went off to feed
elsewhere at 7:45 a.m. I think it certainly would be good to check
the original site periodically, perhaps late this afternoon.
We also checked nearby Timberlawn Park (mostly ball fields), which
looks like the sort of place that geese would sometimes stop to
graze, but no geese there either.
