Hi all. Parke John and I made it down yesterday (Saturday), to Assateague Island. It was so Awesome! There was another group there at the Owl that had already spotted it. This was around 8:30 to 9 ish. All of us slowly worked our way to the bird and were careful not to spook it. We got as close as about 40 or 50 yards. It was very nice.
Now we were fortunate enough to be able to drive down on the ORV zone. On our way back we ran into a real nice couple walking down to the Owl. Parke turned around and gave them a ride the rest of the way. The Owl was practically sitting on the ORV Zone truck path in the sand when we got back down there. It was only about 50 feet away at that point. I was so glad we went back. It would have been around 3 to 4 miles down. That is a long walk in the sand.
Here are some of my photographs. Just follow the link.
