Hi all,
Work brought me back up to Frostburg for a few days. I spent a couple of
hours in Garrett scouting some areas for the CBC coming up on Saturday.
There were a few nice birds to be had, I started at the Swallow Falls State
Park parking lot on a tip from Jim Stasz, the best (and probably not
unexpected this year) birds were a small group of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, I
very quickly checked for them in a few other likely locations around Garrett
on the way into work, but couldn't locate anymore. I also stopped by
Broadford Lake which has some open water and was loaded with birds; within
the CANADA GOOSE flock, the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE count remains at
1. Other nice birds here were 15 NORTHERN PINTAIL, 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and
one female COMMON GOLDENEYE among the other usual suspects.
Good Birding!
