I went down to Schoolhouse Pond to check on the gulls. There was a group of around 300 including quite a few larger gulls. A quick check revealed nothing more unusual than a couple of Lesser Black-backs, but they all flushed right after I had got my scope set up and did not return in numbers. Trumpeter 962 as there and was being chased all round the pond by a Mute Swan.
The large Canada goose flock on the pond at the recycling/transfer site on Brown Station Road had seven Cackling Geese, all clustered together. This is the most I've ever seen at one time in the mid-Atlantic. Some not very close pics of the Cacklings are here:
