Our neighbors two doors down have an improbably healthy (for around
here) hemlock that is loaded with cones this season. Every time
I walk down to the lake I check this tree for finches. This morning
I FINALLY saw a PINE SISKIN feeding in the top of the tree with
7 or 8 goldfinches. The flock flew off in the direction of the lake,
probably going to the house on the lake path with the in-ground pool
and the many feeders in the backyard (a favorite with the local
goldfinches and House Finches), although I wasn't able to relocate
the siskin there a few minutes later.

A yard/lake/county/year bird for me!
