After whiffing on the Eurasian Widgeon last week, notwithstanding two hours of scanning the huge raft of ducks and other waterfowl, I returned today.? I spent another hour scanning, came across a young man who had also been scanning for some time and he opined that the bird was gone.? About twenty minutes I was ready to leave, when I noticed a duck with a cream stripe on the top of its head.? The duck was sleeping with bill under wing, but it soon turned and I was able to see the rusty face and confirmed that in fact it was the widgeon.

The bird was to the left as one scans from the boardwalk, but not as far left as the "old refrigerator."? There is a good deal of ice along the shore.?

Sighting was at 12:45

Many other ducks including Mallard, Black, Gadwall, Scaup (sp), Ring-necked, Bufflehead, Ruddy, American Merganser, American Widgeon, Redhead.
