Hi all --

Pretty tired from all day out -- our sector had pretty good numbers of some species, others oddly missing (some since just *yesterday* when we were out scouting) -- we had about 15 American Tree Sparrows in Lilypons, and a total of about 40 White-crowns in several sites including Lilypons and the Clagett Center. One that Barry and I had was an adult of one the western pale-lored subspecies, probably gambelli but need to so a bit of research. Much more obvious than I had expected...

I also found two Cackling Geese in with about 600 Canadas on the Sector 5 side of Park Mills Rd., in a farm field. Stood out both on size and distinctly grayer backs which was what first caught my eye in the seething mass of large geese. One individual slightly larger than the other, perhaps a mated pair.

There were about 4-5 Lappies in with Horned Larks along Oland Rd (Sector 7) -- the birds seem to be favoring this field although there are many others which to our eyes at least look exactly the same! (Obviously the birds know differently).
