Several Talbot County Birders have looked for the Ross's Goose near
Easton that Bill Hubick reported seeing on 12/26. Two people have been
fully successful. On Jan 3, Dave Palmer of the Talbot Bird Club found the
bird in the grassy field just to the north of the Catholic Church on the
south end of Easton. Dave obtained photos that were quite convincing. On
Jan 4, after lots of searching, Jan Reese of the Talbot Bird Club relocated
the goose near the apartment building parking lot that is just north of the
previously mentioned grassy field. Jan's views were from a close distance
and he was able to confidently confirm Bill's call of the bird being a
Ross's Goose.
Since this bird has been in the region for over a week, perhaps it
will stay longer. A very nice bird to see, and a bit easier to find amongst
Canada Geese instead of being within a large flock of Snow Geese where the
Ross's will not stand out as prominently.

Jan and Don Meritt (also of the Talbot Bird Club) also visited the
Cambridge waterfront in search of the previously reported Tufted Duck and
Eurasian Wigeon. They did not find a Tufted Duck, but quite easily located
the Eurasian Wigeon. Today the Wigeon was close to the west side of the
Cambridge Yacht Club property, and very easy to see.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday at dusk (12/26), I photographed an apparent ROSS'S GOOSE just
south of Easton on Route 50. It was on the west side of the road in a large
flock of Canada Geese just north of Rte 322. It seemed slightly larger than
our average Ross's, but structure (head and bill) appear good. The flock was
feeding close to the road, so viewing should be decent if it continues.
Good birding!

Bill
