MD Osprey:

I just received a report from a young birder (only birding about a
year) of a Boreal Chickadee at his feeders yesterday, 01/18, in
Potomac, Montgomery County, MD. The location was in a residential
wooded area in Potomac. The sighting was at 8:20 in the morning at
about 30 feet, with binoculars. He noted the gray-brown head. The
bird flew out of sight and has not been seen since.

Rather than publish a specific address, I'll put a general circle
around it. It would be outside of the beltway, north of MacArthur
Boulevard in the general area bounded by Brickyard Road to the north
and east and Hackmore Drive (which appears to intersect Brickyard
Road twice, hence, a circular area) to the south and west.

I have not seen any indication that Boreal Chickadees are moving down
from Canada, other than in Minnesota; however, they do have wings ... !!!

Good luck.

Phil
