Lately a Barred Owl has been roosting in the ivy on a neighbor's tree.
Yesterday morning a few dozen Crows diverted from their regular commute to the
outer county to give the owl a hard time (they do this for sport as nearly as I
can tell). In the midst of the commotion a local adult Red-shouldered Hawk
joined the melee and screamed at the owl from about 10 feet away. This
disturbed neither the Crows nor the owl, so the hawk left. Maybe the owl
occasionally predates the hawk nest setting up something of a grudge match. Learn
something new every day.
