I finally ventured out on the Eastern Shore today and started at the
Cambridge Waterfront where I quickly found the Tufted Duck and Barrow's
Goldeneye at the end of the pier of the marina, after the chaos caused by
a passing adult Peregrine Falcon. At the docks at the end of Somerset St.
I located two drake Wood Ducks among many Am. Wigeons and Canvasbacks,
Ruddy Ducks, and Lesser Scaups. I enjoyed excellent views and photo ops of
the Wood Ducks together with two other photographers. Following their
directions to where the Eurasian Wigeon was last seen, I ended my stay in
Cambridge at the WindSail Park where I found the Eu. Wigeon together with
a group of Am. Wigeons.

The rest of the day was spent at and around Blackwater NWR and the
highlights were:
Golden Eagle--1 adult
Am. Kestrel--6
E. Screech-Owl--1
Short-eared Owl--4
Virginia Rail--2
Clapper Rail--1
Winter Wren--2
Am. Pipit--1
Pine Warbler--7
COMMON REDPOLL--1 flyover past bridge on Shorter's Wharf Rd, at first
yellow gate on the right (Shorter's Swamp Area Q2)

A wonderful day all in all, but the overcast skies in the afternoon ruined
any chance of photographing the owls hunting the marshes.

Photos from today's catch will be posted shortly at:
