Jay Sheppard and I checked out a few West Anne Arundel County places with hemlocks and spruce trees this afternoon for crossbills with no luck. The spruce trees are particularly laden with cones. A couple places are near the North Tract where Rod Burley reported two white-winged crossbills in Virginia Pines this morning. Another is in the Russett Community.

Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 2/1/09
Notes: Trumpeter Swan #960 and two Tundra Swan continue at the Little
Patuxent Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve. It is interesting that #960 has been
tolerating the presence of the two Tundra Swan for quite some time now.
