A flock of White-winged Crossbills was actively feeding from 12:40 pm to 1:15 pm at the NE corner of Veazey St and Reno Road . In hemlocks between the alley parallel to Reno Road, and Reno Road. They flew off approx 1:15 pm. Many thanks and congratulations to Gary Allport finding and reporting these fascinating birds. Paul Pisano was there and obtained photos. I made drawings. This was a life bird for me and what a show they put on. Hanging upside down like parrots; I saw one adult male pick a cone off and hold it aloft in his beak. . At least one adult male; total flock I saw at least 14 individuals. One adult male incongruously flew down into a holly tree at eye level about 15 feet from me. Good birding!
