This afternoon My children and I went to the play ground at Chesapeake Isle which many of you know as the small community right at the entrance to the ELk Neck State Park at Turkey Point. As my kids played on the swings, I heard some chip notes from the wooded edge which borders the playground area, the Elk River, and a marsh within the State Park boundaries. Long story short, I pshhhed at the rushes and a Hermit Thrush immediately lit on a phragmites stem. Shotly after, it was followed by a handsome Gray Catbird! Nice frind for February, i thought!

Other than that there were 19 Common Mergansers flying down the river and a single hen Hoodie flying up river...

Good Birding,
