This afternoon around 1PM, I was driving towards Leonardtown, MD on
Route 5. EXACTLY at the intersection of Rt 5 and Rt 242, I noticed an
eagle soaring above with a rich, golden hue on it's head. It had
clean, dark under-wings, with no white to be seen as one would expect
on a 1st or 2nd year Bald Eagle. The bird had a dark tail, with an
even darker outer-tail band. It circled quickly on a thermal and
vanished out of sight. I stopped my car (safely) and tried to get
bins on it. I even went south on 242 in an attempt to relocate it.
For comparison, there was an Adult Bald Eagle visible, though it was
at a much higher altitude.

Would someone who lives in that area be interested in doing a spot check?

In other news, on the way South this morning, the GREATER WHITE
FRONTED GOOSE was present in the field South of the Solomon's Island
Bridge (same place Tyler mentioned in previous posts).

Good Birding,
