From Hawkins Point Road, on the outside of the beltway, there is a
relatively good spot to scope both sides of the landfill (active and
inactive).

This afternoon, I put my bins on what appeared to be a
perfectly-situated snowy owl near the top of the inactive portion.

Soon the object revealled itself... A large, white trash bag in the
shape of a perched snowy owl.

Even still, there was no traffic, so it was a safe spot I'd recommend
for those interested in searching.

Go on to Fort Armistead Road (as if to head back on to the Beltway
towards Key Bridge). Make your first left and then a right at the end
of that street. This is a short rose that ends in a cul-de-sac where
there is some business. If you see a really cool looking old bus with
a for sale sign on it, you're in the right spot.

Best,

Dan Haas
