More spring ....

Canada Geese (with a brisk southerly tailwind) are flying high and North in
bunches this morning.

Dark-eyed Juncos have started giving their short, musical trill song.
I am seeing and hearing lots more Killdeer
Woodcocks are displaying in the field across the street from my house.

A GBBC observation: While surfing some of the Great Backyard Bird Count
data, I noticed their top 10 lists. Charlotte, Tennessee was Number one for
localities reporting the most birds. The reason why is pretty astounding.
One (yes, one) checklist reported an amazing 500,550 birds ... 500 Robins,
40 Cardinals, 10 of 7 other species ... and ... are you ready ... 500,000
Grackles. We have no grounds to complain of Grackles invading our feeders!
How do you count 500,000 Grackles? And the big question, is Tennessee
famous for hoardes of Grckles?
