Birding Blue Mash Trail & Lake Needwood

Hi all,

  Decided to make a short visit to Blue Mash Trail in Olney yesterday.  Not much activity.
The big pond had skim ice so the waterfowl (Ring necked Ducks & Mallards) were concertrated
in one area. Same for the small pond, which held 1 Bufflehead drake, Hoodies and Ring necked.
Went to Centential in HoCo late in the day to search out WWCB's but struck out.

10:30-11:50  Blue Mash 2/21 

~ 30-40 Ring necked Ducks (big & small ponds)
Bufflehead 1 (drake)
6-7 Hooded Mergansers 
8 Mallards
Canada Geese (flyovers) 1 -2 present

1 Red tailed Hawk (mobbed by crows)
Red shouldered Hawks 2
Yellow rumped Warbler 2
American Goldfinch 
White thrt Sparrow
Bluejay
Mockingbird
Starlings

Mammals: White tailed deer & 1 Red fox
Lake Needwood:
1 Turkey Vulture
Canada Geese 10-12
Mallards
Hooded Merganser 6

Centential Lake: Howard Co. 4-5pm
Ring necked Ducks (several)
Canvasbacks 3
Mallard (several)
Canada Geese
Great Blue Heron 1
Red winged Blackbird
Grackes (flyover 80-100)
Mammals: 1 Beaver
