Hi all,
My brother, Robert, and I birded in Montgomery and Howard counties today. We spent the bulk of our time along the C&O Canal where the highlights were:

Trumpeter Swan
White-winged Scoter (Riley's)
Surf Scoter (Riley's)
Red-breasted Merganser (2 males at Riley's)
Redhead (1 male at Riley's)
Green-winged Teal (2nd impoundment at Pennyfield)
Tree Swallow (5 at Riley's flying downriver)

We then checked out Clopper Lake where it was quiet, and then made a brief stop at Black Hill RP. We saw one male Redhead from the Rt 121 bridge. We then moved on to Centennial Lake where we were told we just missed the White-winged Crossbills. After a fruitless search for them we ended the day at Brighton Dam where we did not find the Red-necked Grebe, but did see many Common Mergansers.
