After the conclusion of a Charles County field trip led by George Jett and Gwen Brewer I wanted to look for some more ducks. Gwen and George gave me directions to several sights in Charles County (thanks). Some have said there are no birds in Charles County :) but we had a great morning with 65 species. At 1:30 pm I observed a male Eurasian Wigeon at Goose Bay Marina in Charles County. You must first check in with the office before looking for it. 



Goose Bay Marina is located on the Port Tobacco River. DeLorme pg 28 A3. 

From La Plata take Rt 6 west. 

Turn left on Blossom Point Rd 

Turn left on Brentland Rd 

Turn right to Goose Creek Marina. 

Check in at the office and ask for permission to bird. They were very friendly towards me. 

From the office head to the water and slightly to the right. The Eurasian Wigeon was with some scaup, Gadwalls, American Wigeon, and Ruddy Ducks close to the opposite shore about 200 yards away. 

One of the female wigeons looked interesting but she was too far for a positive id. 



George was able to photograph the drake Eurasian Wigeon at 3:00 pm today.
