This morning an unusual Downy Woodpecker showed up at our feeder. The white was replaced by brown similar the Notional Geographic illustration of the Hairy Woodpecker in the Pacific Northwest. Any ideas as to if this is normal here in the east? I will try to get a couple of pictures of the bird when i shows up again.
