At 6:20 am this morning I observed a SHORT-EARED OWL hunting over the marsh
on Maple Dam Road at Blackwater NWR. About 10 minutes later it was
accompanied by a Northern Harrier for the next 10 minutes until it
disappeared. Also of interest, two CACKLING GEESE in a large flock of
Canadas off Egypt Road.
