Hello again,

As a gentle reminder to anyone visiting SWAP or locations like it, PLEASE, PLEASE do not do anything that can be considered overstaying our welcome. Getting locked in at a location that closes its gates, or even inconveniencing the person who closes them, can easily turn into our not being allowed to access a site after hours. If you plan to watch displaying woodcocks at SWAP, you MUST park outside and walk in.

Furthermore, using any light (especially car headlights) to observe nocturnal birds (especially courtship activity) is inappropriate. When observing, find one place, preferably not in the middle of the open area, and observe quietly, using only the available ambient light (i.e., setting sun and moon). If you need a flashlight to hike in or out, use it only to find your way.

Please be quiet, courteous, and discreet at any site like this. It will ensure the best experience for you and for the birds. The last thing any of us want is for our actions to have a negative effect on the birds or our fellow birders.

Thanks,

Bill
