After dropping one of my boys off for some tutoring near Laytonsville, I
was pleased to find a couple of FOS Eastern Meadowlarks in a field along
Rocky Rd this afternoon around 4 pm.
Also enjoyed some time at a mini wetland area called Green Hills Farm
Wetlands off Huntmaster Rd. Signs posted in wetlands indicate its a MD
DOT mitigation project. This area is on northeast side of Huntmaster Rd
and a path on left side that takes you into wetlands puts afternoon sun
at your back. I enjoyed watching some ducks in flight (most were
mallards) but also watched a few Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, and Wood
Ducks fly in. Seems like an interesting area but don't recollect it
being mentioned by other Montgomery birders.
