Today I finally had a chance to go up to Washington County to enjoy
the waterfowl along the Potomac.

Highlights included the following:

C & O Canal, Big Pool

Mute Swan - 1
Tundra Swan - 24
American Wigeon - 5
Redhead - 3
Ring-necked Duck - 1
Lesser Scaup - 12
Bufflehead - 5
Killdeer - 1
Ring-billed Gull - 40+
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Eastern Phoebe - 1
Common Raven - 1

Potomac River, McCoy's Ferry

Wood Duck - 7
American Black Duck - 3 or 4
Hooded Merganser - a pair
Common Merganser - a pair

Potomac River, Williamsport
(mouth of Conococheague Creek)

Red-necked Grebe - 2

And in case anyone still needs PINE SISKINS for your Washington
County list, I found noisy (zeeeting) hordes of them in three
locations: at the Visitor Center at Greenbrier State Park (reported
earlier by Joe Hanfman), around a house on Shaffer Road near the
intersection with Dam #4 Road, and around a house on Keedysville
Road just east of Rte. 65.

Due to a shortage of time, I wasn't able to go to Weverton, but I'm
hoping for another opportunity soon.

Thanks to Joe Hanfman and Bill Hubick for your previous reports!
