As I posted earlier, I had a Red-necked Grebe on the Potomac in PG County. I found it grouped with a few Horned and Pied-billed Grebes, which made for some nice comparisons. You can view an awful photo I took of it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35144142@N04/3361709176/

The fact that the Canvasbacks and Common Mergansers are nearing the end of their migratory departure is becoming very apparent, but there were still two Canvasbacks and three Common Mergansers lingering today.

The other notables today were five Meadowlarks in the fields at the Accokeke Creek area of Piscataway Park, two Barred Owls calling around 3pm, and a bizarrely tame Rock Dove, which after placing a series of calls, was determined to mostly likely be an escaped racing pigeon. This was only gleamed after I had taken my shirt off and attempted to catch the bird for the rehabilitator and it subsequently flying away. Before that, it was walking with inches of my shoes and acting very lost. At one point, it decided to walk around in the woods.
