If anyone is looking for a place to find Wilson's Snipe, you might want to visit the Little Patuxent Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve. Jay Sheppard reported about 60 snipe this morning just as the fog burned off the lake.

If you visit, park at the entrance on Oxbow Place. Walk up the improved pathway to an observation area. Go around the fence to the right and continue on the primitive trail. Along this trail are several openings where you can peer out to the peninsula surrounded by mud flats. It ends at lake level (a spot we are watching for Rusty Blackbirds).

Another option is from Oxbow Place, take the primitive trail that heads off to the left. Follow this trail as it winds around the lake. You'll cross over a large tree across the trail and then wind to the right. You'll reach an opening directly across from the peninsula (we call the tip Gallinule Point) where you can see into both sides of the peninsula.

Other birds this morning just as the fog was lifting included:
60 Snipe
02 wood duck
12 tree swallow
02 red-shouldered hawks
