OK, OK, I know what the date is too, and this is no April fool joke. On my walk in to work today across Patterson Park I saw a drake Eurasion Wigeon on the boat lake. It's a nice bright bird with no signs of any hybridization. It must have come in overnigth as it was not there last night. there are also 6 American Wigeon on the lake, which also spend some time grazing on surrounding grass with the Mallards.
Other birds this morning in the park:
Eastern Phoebe 4
Swamp Sparrow 4
Song Sparrow 5
If you come to see the wigeon pop into the Audubon office and say hello. We're 150 yards south of the boat lake on Eastern Avenue, opposite the park and opposite the coffee shop.
Good luck,
Dave
