This morning I took an out-of-town birder on a short tour of D.C. sites. 
She's from New Mexico, but had spent pre-birding time in the DC area.

Highlights

Hain's Point (there was still parking at 7:45)

Black Duck - 1
Greater Scaup - 2-3 dozen
Common Goldenye - 1 (f)
Red-breasted Merganser - 1 (f)
Pied-billed Grebe - 1
Osprey - 1
Bonaparte's Gull - 5
Another party reported Rough-winged Swallow and Savannah Sparrow, but we 
didn't encounter any.

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

Wood Duck - 6
Osprey - 1
Bald Eagle - 1
Rough-winged Swallow - 2-3

Kenilworth Park
