St Mary's, Charles County wonderful day of birding

Eastern Blue birds- 3

Mockingbirds - 1

Black vultures - 8

Turkey vultures - 6

American Crows - 4

Ospreys - 1

American Robins - 2

European starlings - 1

Bonaparte's gulls adult - 139, these gulls were on the corner of Rt 5 and
Bayside road in a field on the left side of the road, there is water
standing in the field 

Bonaparte's 1st winter gulls - 25

Ring billed gulls 1st winter - 48

Ring billed gulls 3rd winter - 80

Killdeer - 2

Pectoral sandpiper - 4

 

Charles County line - creek

Black vultures - 25 , bathing in the very low creek, drying in the sun and
sitting on tree limbs and 1 on the guardrail

Bald eagle - 1 immature

 

Allen's Fresh, Charles County Maryland

Bald eagles - 3 mature

Fish crow - 1

Black vultures - 4

Swan - 1 , its head was down so could not further identify especially at the
distance

Redwing blackbird - 1

Edge hill Road and Popes Creek road 2nd entrance off Rt 301

Popes Creek Rd 1st entrance off Rt 301

Bald eagles - 2 mature eagles male and female with an immature in a field on
the left side of road before Rt 301, male dominated the dead deer standing
on top of it, female ate from edge and the immature sat patiently about 10
feet away

After about 10 minutes several vultures showed up to try to take over but
the male bald eagle held his ground..on top of the deer

section of the bridge

Cobb Island (my first time there and I will go back, lots of birds, friendly
people, good food and plenty of wildlife)

New to me...3 ducks that had mallard head, white throat (not just a ring),
brown bodies..looks like mallards mated with American black duck - I have
pictures

Swan Point Road - development with ponds and golf course

Great blue heron - 2 immature

Red tailed hawk - 1

Fish crow - 1 

Many deer in the housing area, they were eating the plants as quick as
people put them in the ground

 

Allens Fresh back in Charles County

Black vultures - 8

Mourning dove - 1

Shorebird - 1 ( I believe greater yellowlegs but it was pretty far out)

Killdeer - 1

Ducks - 2 (too far out to identify)

American Kestrel - 1

Common grackles - 10

Bald eagle - 1 mature

 

It was cloudy, windy and 62 degrees.  What a wonderful day birding, tomorrow
will do Piney Point, St George's Island and Point Lookout.
