While having tea on our tiny back yard balcony this morning, we saw a flock of six crossbills fly into a large spruce at the edge of the yard. They only stayed for a few seconds, but we walked around the block and relocated them in another of the many spruces in the neighborhood. They occasionally flew, and I counted eleven, but there may have been more. Some Pine Siskins were with them.

We watched them for more than an hour, and neighbor Carol Schreter was able to join us.

A new yard bird for Mt. Washington!
