While I was at Forebay Pond today, I got an extremely brief glimpse of a
bird that flew in and landed behind a heavy thicket. I was busy enjoying
the Blue-winged Teals (mentioned in my previous post), so I didn't
notice this bird until it was almost too late. All I have are some
impressions -- does anyone have even a suggestion of what this might
have been?

The bird had a very prominent eye-ring -- I think it was white, but I'm
not sure, but it was very noticeable. The scapular seemed iridenscent in
the sun. Other than that I just had an impression of light gray, but I
don't know what part of the bird was gray. There were no strong colors
or any other field marks that jumped out at me except the eye ring and
the differently-colored scapulars. I only saw it for a fraction of a
second. I think it might have been about the size of a robin, give or
take some -- I'm pretty sure it wasn't as small as a warbler, but I'm
not positive.

I know I'm unlikely to ever know what this bird was, but I thought it
was worth giving it a shot to see if anyone has any suggestions.
