This morning the Voice of the Naturalist received a report of a Snowy Owl in Catonsville, from a townhouse bordering Patapsco Valley State Park. The bird was seen around 8 am; it subsequently flew off (but not in the direction of the park).

The reporter said it is okay to identify the area. The townhouse is located in Drexel Woods, at 42 Oak Shadow Drive (a right turn off Drexel Woods Drive, the entrance to the community). Sidewalks lead behind the townhouses to the woodsy area overlooking the Patapsco river and the park.

Parking is available in overflow parking at the end of Shadow Oak Drive, as well as along Drexel Woods Drive. Do not park in front of the townhouses; these parking spaces are reserved for residents.

Anyone who goes to this community is reminded to be on their best birding behavior.
