Yesterday evening I drove towards Blackwater NWR and over to Elliot's Island
marshes looking for shorebirds in flooded fields.

I found two very productive puddles along Griffiths Neck Rd. Mainly
Yellowlegs (both greater and lesser) made up most of the numbers but Dunlin
and Pectorals were also present. A Short-eared Owl was a nice surprise
sitting in the marsh at Griffith Neck.

4 Black-necked Stilts were seen along Elliot's Island Rd. When dusk fell
the marsh came alive with large rails and Virginia Rails singing along with
Marsh Wrens and both Seaside and Salt Marsh Sparrows. No goatsuckers were
heard.
