With fantastic spring weather, we had a very productive day of birding
within the Anacostia river watershed.

Things began with a singing male Pine Warbler in the Barnard Hill Park in
northeastern DC. A singing Ovenbird was then heard in the National
Arboretum. Within woodland adjoining the Kenilworth Park football field, we
heard a Northern Parula. The day ended with incredibly clear looks at a pair
of Palm Warblers, a flock of Yellow-rumped Warblers, and a singing &
foraging Northern Parula in the Bald Eagle Hill Park in the southeast
portion of the District.

Additional sigtings of note:
- Cooper's Hawk *(N. Arboretum)*
- Red-tailed Hawk *(N. Arboretum)*
- Red-shouldered Hawk *(Fort Dupont Park)*
- Osprey *(Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens)*
- Greater Yellowlegs *(individual foraging along inundation at the edge of
football field, Kenilworth Park)*
- Yellow-bellied Sapsucker *(Kenilworth Park and Bald Eagle Hill Park)*
- Pileated Woodpecker *(male calling and drumming, Fort Dupont Park)*
- Eastern Phoebe *(N. Arboretum and Bald Eagle Hill Park)*
- Blue-gray Gnatcatcher *(abundant throughout the watershed)*
- Ruby-crowned Kinglet *(heard singing in Bald Eagle Hill Park)*
- Hermit Thrush *(Kenilworth Park, Fort Dupont Park and Bald Eagle Hill
Park)*
- Cedar Waxwing *(large flock in the N. Arboretum)*
- Field Sparrow *(N. Arboretum and Kenilworth Park)*
- Chipping Sparrow *(N. Arboretum)*
