Between 5:00 pm and 6:50 pm today I counted 176 Broad-winged Hawks at Cromwell Valley Park.  Most of these birds were very high ( not visible without binoculars ) and flying in a NNE direction.  After 6:30 they did begin to lose altitude and were seen descending into areas east of the park in small numbers.  Against a clear blue sky the hawks were nearly invisible and I wonder how many got by uncounted .
