Raptor Observations:
A Merlin can't resist making a detour to take a swipe at a passerine.
Non-raptor Observations:
A Brown Pelican flying up the Patapsco River; New Arrivals: Little Blue
Heron, Eastern Kingbird, Laughing Gull (2). Other notables: 52 Common
Loons, 32 American Goldfinches, 4 Brown Thrashers, 10 Blue-Gray
Gnatcatchers, 1 Palm Warbler; a few hundred swallows, swifts, and martins

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on Wednesdays. |
