Weather: Mostly sunny becoming mostly cloudy; 53-73 degrees; visibility good,
becoming excellent; winds light and northwesterly until the late afternoon
3-8 mph, then becoming WSW or W 5-13 mph, gusting to 20 mph
Raptor Observations:
Second ever spring Golden Eagle, subadult; good falcon flight in the late
afternoon with 30 kestrels and 16 Merlins counted between 3 and 7:30 pm
(Daylight time). 21 kestrels and 11 Merlins counted from 6-7 pm alone.
Non-raptor Observations:
New arrival of Least Tern; 91 American Goldfinches; 28 Common Loons; 8
Savannah Sparrows; probably over 1000 swallows, swifts, and martins.

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on Wednesdays. |
