Hi all --

An early-season morning excursion to these two DC sites usually yield a few
interesting birds. Alas, no Little Blue Heron but nevertheless some new
birds for us for the year. Birds of interest included:

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens:

Greater Yellowlegs - 5
Killdeer - 1
Wood Duck - 6
CHIMNEY SWIFT - 15 (FOY)
Rough-winged Swallow - 2
Eastern Phoebe - 2
CEDAR WAXWING - 30+
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 10 (!)
Hermit Thrush - 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 8-10
PARULA WARBLER - 2 (FOY)
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT - 3 (FOY)
RUSTY BLACKBIRD - 1 male
Swamp Sparrow - 4-5 (several singing)

Kenilworth Park: (Rather disturbed because of 4 soccer games in progress, we
did the "back end" behind the barriers:

Killdeer - 1
AMERICAN KESTREL - 1, female
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1
Eastern Phoebe - 1

Plus the usual suspects...
