I ventured to Southwest Area Park this morning in hopes of scoring pheasant, but no joy. But a nice consolation prize was TWO Vesper Sparrows. They were in the gravel path on the back side of the boat ramp parking area, not the small green sign "no vehciles." They moved around a little, but seem to stick to the gravel, going up the little rise. I even glimpsed once the fabled chestnut shoulder patch

Other notable birds:

Green-winged Teal - 8
Northern Harrier - 1
Chimney Swift
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 2
Hermit Thrush - 1
Yellow Warlber - 2
Yellow-rumped Warlber - 1 (male in alternate plumage)
Common Yellowthroat - 2
Savannah Sparrow - 1
Field Sparrow - 5
Song Sparrow - 15
White-throated Sparrow - 9
Swamp Sparrow - 9
