Walking to my car in Baltimore City this morning, was pleasantly startled by "Chick-brr," followed by the hoarse, sing-song of a Scarlet Tanager. When I arrived at work, the Barn Swallows were back and swooping in front of Executive Plazas North and South in Rockville, MD. Both FOY species for me.
BTW, we have a nesting Canada Goose in the median strip dividing two parts of the parking lot at work. Orange pylons help alert pedestrians. Friday, two other geese were on top of the parking lot guard station, involved in a noisy face to face display. Their calls echoed among the tall buildings.
