Hi Everyone,

I'm passing the following along for Ken Keffer of the Lower Shore Land Trust. This looks like one of those great opportunities that marries the fun of birding with the collection of useful information. I already asked Ken to put me on the list!

By the way, I had a vocal male BOAT-TAILED GRACKLE at the end of Nanticoke Rd in Waterview (Wicomico Co) yesterday (3 May 2009)--my first for the county!

Have fun,

The Lower Shore Land Trust is recruiting volunteers to conduct forest interior dwelling bird species (FIDS) point count surveys within the Maryland Coastal Bays Watershed. Three locations will be identified, one each in the northern, central, and southern portions of eastern Worcester County. Each location will require three early morning point count surveys (+/- 3 hours plus travel) and two morning and two evening general search or canvassing visits. Ideally volunteers will conduct all three point count surveys for a single location. LSLT will assist with canvassing visits. This is a unique opportunity to bird on privately owned tracts of forest within the Maryland Coastal Bays Watershed. Volunteers must be able to identify birds by sight and sound. Qualified volunteers interested in conducting FIDS surveys can get more information by contacting Ken Keffer, Lower Shore Land Trust Stewardship and Volunteer Coordinator at 410-641-4467 or
