I stopped by the field next to Mt. Zion Church at 10:30 AM and easily found the large flock of bobolinks! How fun! It was so much fun I drove back by at 1:30 PM with a friend – and yes, the flock was still happily and energetically feeding. The meadow appears to be a crop of grass (winter wheat perhaps) with mature seed heads. I understand that bobolinks prefer to migrate in the daytime. If that is true, especially considering the abundant food supply, they might just stay put for a little bit!
Thanks VERY much for posting their location!

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Boblinks in Harwood/Lothian
I was cruising down Bayard Rd on the way to work. I spied a flock of Bobolinks
litting in an unmowed hay field just west of and on the same side as the Mt.
ion Methodist Church. On Bayard Rd., this field is about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from
he circle on Rt. 2. While the shoulders at the church are quite wide, the area
here the birds were seen has little in the way of shoulders and all the
riveways are private. So be careful if you go looking in this area. The
olice also frequently run radar in this area - 40 mph.
