A pretty good day around Lake Artemesia, the middle section between
the two ponds was especially active. It seemed like there was an
orchard oriole everywhere I looked, and I had the pair of yellow
warblers (male and female), swamp sparrow, and white crowned sparrow
in this area as well. There was also a pair of vireo-type birds that
I didn't get a great look at. If I had to make a call, I would say
Warbling Vireo, but I'm not sure. The bronzed grackle was very
obviously bronze to me, though I wasn't smart enough to take a photo.
It was drinking some water from a puddle with about 3 purple grackles.
I also had a Bald Eagle and Osprey flyover, and heard the Barred Owl
calling in the woods to the east of the pond. The full report is
below.
Good birding,
Colin Hebert
